June 12 talk with Melissa Dallal and Cade Tompkins:

A talk about how prints are acquired for an institutional collection (Memorial Sloan Kettering) and used in healthcare.

Join us for our June Artist talk, a conversation with the curatorial team behind the art collections at Memorial Sloan Kettering’s latest buildings. MGC member Melissa Dallal, who manages the art collection at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and Cade Tompkins, owner of Cade Tompkins Projects, a gallery in Providence, will talk about their work together building innovative and transformative art collections at MSK’s newest buildings. Tompkins has worked with MSK on the 1,250+ work collection at David H. Koch Center for Cancer Care in Manhattan which opened in 2020, the collection at MSK Nassau in Uniondale, NY from 2019 and the collection at the Memorial Bone Marrow Transplant Unit, in Manhattan, which also opened in 2019. The conversation will cover how works are selected, how they strike a balance between original and editioned works and how artworks support the overall patient, visitor and staff experience.
