Kit Smyth Basquin
Board Secretary

Collecting, exhibiting, and writing about prints for decades, I am thrilled to be on the board of the Manhattan Graphics Center, where I took a printmaking course years ago with Fred Mershimer. I greatly respect the director, Sarah Kirk Hanley, and look forward to spreading the influence of the Manhattan Graphics Center. I believe that collectors, art historians, and art critics should take printmaking classes, so they can visually identify printmaking processes.
My biography Mary Ellen Bute: Pioneer Animator was published in May 2020, by John Libbey Publishing Ltd. I plan to distribute and lecture about it this year. Currently, I am writing a memoir. Each chapter is a short story focused on an incident in my life, such as teaching in Addis Ababa, teaching in Gaza, and getting a job at the Met Museum by overhearing a phone number.
