INTRO TO SILKSCREEN
INTRO TO SILKSCREEN
with Dana Wood Zinsser
Class Description
This six-week course is an excellent introduction to the centuries-old process of silkscreen printing. Through hands-on demos and projects, students will learn the fundamentals of screen printing — prepping artwork, coating a screen, exposing it, handling proper equipment and tools, working with water-based inks, and producing a limited edition of prints. In a relaxed, fun environment we will troubleshoot challenges that come up with ink, materials, and tools, and experiment with different surfaces and colors. Together we will demystify this democratic art form and open the door to the many possibilities silk screen offers, once one knows the basics. Students will walk away with their own run of prints and the skills to bring this process more regularly into their personal art practice. Come print with us! *includes 3, 3 hour sessions of open workshop time About the instructor Dana Wood Zinsser is a visual artist and master printer living and working in New York City.
