Class Description
NEW This workshop is an intermediate course in water-based screen printing. It is designed to present techniques that build up from the basic knowledge that students have acquired in the beginner’s class. We will cover a variety of approaches including paper and hand-drawn stencils, monoprinting, and reduction silkscreen. Students should bring to first class sketches & ideas of what they would like to work on. I would like to see your previous silkscreen work and any other print work you would like to share. Instructor Bio: Sandra C. Fernández is an Ecuadorean-American artist currently living in New Jersey, whose work is rooted in the transborder experiences of exile, dislocation, relocation, memory, and self-conscious identity-construction/reconstruction. Her practice includes—separately and in combination—printmaking, photography, artist’s books, soft sculpture/fiber art, assemblages, and installations. She has taught printmaking for more than 25 years at various universities and art institutions around the United States. She received her MFA from the University of Wisconsin at Madison and has had over twenty solo exhibitions and more than two hundred group exhibitions at the national and international levels. Her works are represented in collections such as the Smithsonian American Art Museum, The National Museum of Women in the Arts, and the Library of Congress in Washington DC; The MET Museum of Art in NYC, and the Bibliotéque Nationale in Paris France, to name a few. She currently lives and maintains her studio practice in New Jersey. Members get 10% Use code MEMBER10
