Class Description

Cyanotype will help you see blue in a whole, new light! This course will share introductory techniques in cyanotype utilizing pre-coated fabric, moving forward to mixing your own chemistry and coating paper and other sculptural objects. Blue eggs, anyone? This exploration in technique offers a brief history of the medium, will share and discuss several contemporary artists working in cyanotype, explore the technical components to photographic and handmade stenciling, and shift into sculptural forms. We will move on to explore Jacquard’s SolarFast products to create a range of color, using the principles learned in the first few weeks of the class. This course is perfect for beginners and printmakers looking to add digital elements into traditionally analog mediums. Instructor Bio: Julianne Hunter holds a BFA in Sculpture from the College of Saint Rose and an MFA in Printmaking from SUNY New Paltz.
