Class Description
Proper mounting techniques and careful storage will lead to a longer life for your artwork. In this class, students will learn about the safe handling and storage of their artworks on paper, along with a bit about the science and chemistry of prints. Options for mounting boards, adhesives, and interleaving will be discussed and we will practice hinging and mounting techniques. You'll leave with a protective Tuxedo box enclosure for all of your samples. Bring your conservation and materials questions! Bring: A print you have questions about storing, if you wish An X-acto knife or scalpel A straightedge A bone folder if you have one (some will be available to borrow) Choose from Session A and/or B About the Instructor Cynthia Schwarz is a painting conservator and museum professional with two decades of experience in museum collections. She came to conservation from a background in studio art, having earned her BFA from Rhode Island School of Design in painting. After working as a portrait and mural painter, she earned her MS in painting conservation from the Winterthur / University of Delaware Program in Art Conservation. She has special expertise in the conservation of modern and contemporary art and in the complex treatment of works on canvas. $250 Limited to 10 students Please email: studio@manhattangraphicscenter.org with any accessibility concerns.

Cancellation Policy
STUDENT CLASS CANCELLATION If a student must drop out of a class, 75% of tuition will be refunded as long as MGC is notified 15 days or more prior to the start date of the class. If a student notifies MGC less than 15 days prior, no tuition can be refunded. Membership and materials fee are non-refundable.
