Class Description

Aquatint is one of the most versatile intaglio processes and also one of the most tricky to master. This class is for printmakers who have a foundation in etching and aquatint. The purpose of this class is too master aquatint and trouble shoot problems. This class will demonstrate the correct amount of rosin dust needed to get the richest tones and the proper melting techniques. We will cover the specific details of what you should look for in a perfect aquatint ground. We will cover the traditional step method of aquatint, spit bite, and crayon technique, as well as how to properly print your aquatint. You should bring an intaglio plate that you have already started working to which you will add an aquatint ground. Note: we only work on copper plates at MGC. If you have had past problems with your plate, bring proofs to class with you as well. The goal of this class is for you to harness the power of the aquatint medium. Cancellation Policy

STUDENT CLASS CANCELLATION If a student must drop out of a class, 75% of tuition will be refunded as long as MGC is notified 15 days or more prior to the start date of the class. If a student notifies MGC less than 15 days prior, no tuition can be refunded. Membership and materials fee are non-refundable.
