Learn to make monotypes and monoprints to create unique prints without a press, or to enhance your drawings and paintings! In this class, students will learn pochoir printing (stencil) and trace-monotype, two techniques that can be practiced at home without special equipment. Students will explore how to layer color and invent interesting textures. These techniques open the door to a wide array of unique mark-making techniques that can be used not only to create prints but can also add ephemeral and mysterious qualities to drawings or paintings. We will spend part of the class learning about the historical background of these techniques and how artists use them today. Class will also include demonstrations from the instructor. Each session will allow time for students to work on their art during class so the instructor can offer feedback in real time.
