This printing technique is based on the scientific principle that water and oil do not mix, which is used in traditional lithography. Typically, a limestone slab or metal plate is used for this process. Instead, we replace these with a household sheet of Aluminum or Tin Foil.

The advantage of this technique is that you can temporarily turn your kitchen into an artist studio and create a number of editions using supplies that are readily available.  It also does not require the physical exertion required of traditional lithography - NO lifting heavy stones, NO grinding, and NO heavy printing press. Most importantly, this course will teach students the basic concepts of lithography that can be applied to the more traditional techniques.

Students will learn how to prepare, process, and print these plates. Methods of adding color will also be dicussed and demonstrated.
