Participants will be shown how to prepare and use mat board printing plates that have the texture of mild sandpaper and are therefore conducive to drawing with water soluble crayons and painting with water based printing ink. These lightweight plates are easily transportable and are particularly useful for artists who may wish to draw and paint on location. With the aid of an etching press, the ink and crayon drawing is transferred to a dampened piece of paper. Since no solvents are used, the printmaking studio is fume free, and clean-up is with dishwashing detergent and water.
