First students will learn about the history of indigo throughout time and cultures, the chemical properties of indigo, and different ways it works with different fabrics.  Then we will go over different folding techniques and the basics of resist dyeing.  Next we will work on some beginner techniques. Throughout the day the class will progress to itejame shibori with shapes.  Finally students can try an ombre, or a sewing version of shibori.  Each student will get a handmade pillow, practice swatches (30x30), instructions to make a vat at home, and care instructions for their projects.
