Learn to make drypoint prints safely and effectively from home, without a press, and on a budget! 

In “Drypoint from Home,” students will learn how to make drypoint plates with common materialssuch as found plastic, found metal, and plexiglassand print them at home. Class time will be divided into demonstrations, guided at-home printing, and discussions, with suggested assignments that will progress in complexity. Students will be encouraged to experiment both in their plates and tools, such as sandpaper, nails, paperclips, etching needles, burnisher, thumbtacks, or serrated knives Students will learn how to think about images in reverse, wipe a non-traditional plate, and register plates for multicolor printing There will also be brief presentations of contemporary and historical artists who have use this method. This course is ideal both for beginning students who have never made prints before, as well as advanced students who wish to adapt their printmaking practice to working from home.
