The freedom of ad hoc relief printmaking offers many creative possibilities. Found objects from nature such as dried fruit, flattened street trash, or computer circuit panels can be combined with painterly marks from glue and PVA emulsions to make a collagraph plate. The plate can be inked as an intaglio impression, and printed with multiple colors or pressed as an embossment. A painterly hand-coloring of the plate allows a luminescent quality that is unique to collagraph. This class will promote each artist’s individual focus. Prior collagraph or intaglio experience required.
