The freedom of ad hoc relief printmaking offers many creative possibilities. Found objects from nature such as dried fruit, flattened street trash, or computer circuit panels combine with painterly marks from glue and PVA emulsions can be combined to make a collagraph plate. This plate can be inked as an intaglio impression, and printed with multiple colors or pressed as an embossment. A painterly hand-coloring of the plate allows a luminescent quality that is unique to collagraph. This class will promote each artist’s individual focus. Prior collagraph or intaglio experience required.

Robin Dintiman works in print, sculpture, and drawing. She has taught at CCA, SF Arts Foundation, Renaissance Arts HS, Twin Rivers Print, CCP, and has done artists talks widely. Recent solo shows include multi-media at DVAA non-profit as well as international invitational shows in India, Prague and Amsterdam. She is showing at AFA Non Profit Gallery and Penn State later this summer.
