ABOUT MANHATTAN GRAPHICS CENTER

MGC is a fully equipped, fine art printmaking workshop that welcomes artists at all levels of printmaking experience. Artist membership is required for participation in classes and use of the facilities.

   

MGC'S PRINTMAKING FACILITIES

  • Three etching presses with 7 work tables

  • Three lithography presses, each with a work table

  • Six silkscreen work tables

  • Complete darkroom and exposing room

   

MEMBERSHIP is open to all artists for an annual fee of $35. Benefits include:

  • Access to the studio for printmaking classes and open workshop.

  • Opportunity to include your prints in the MGC online gallery.

  • Eligibility for one–person shows and group shows at MGC for members currently working at the studio.

  • Participation in printmaking portfolio and exhibition projects.

   

KEYHOLDERS are the primary administers of MGC. For their commitment to monitor (i.e., supervise the studio for 4 hours per week, do chores, and staff the MGC committees), keyholders have access to the studio when it is closed and receive tuition discounts for classes. Printmakers who wish to become keyholders must have at least one semester of attendance at MGC and must be approved by the Operations Committee.

   

SUMMERINK MGC's special program of intensive explorations in fine art printmaking is a summer destination for creative travelers, as well as an opportunity for local artists. In addition to MGC's usual multi-week long classes, the program offers short workshops in printmaking specialties.

   

OUTREACH MGC's Outreach initiatives include: 

  • A High school students' printmaking class taught by MGC faculty 

  • Visiting faculty program to bring printmaking to high schools and community centers 

  • Annual juried show attracting printmakers from all over the world 

  • Free Open House and Printmaking Demonstrations each year 

  • Participation in Print Week and Armory Arts Week 

  • Participation in the Fashion District's Arts Council
