Workshop description:

For both beginners and experienced printmakers, this 3-day intensive class will introduce soft ground etching on copper plates. The process enables artists to imprint cloth, fingerprints and other textured objects into the ground and etch these impressions into their plates. Students can also simply draw into the ground with materials such as pencils or pastels in order to create etchings that reflect those qualities. Students with previous etching experience will be able to combine this process with other etching techniques, but no previous printmaking experience is required.

Noah Breuer received a BFA in Printmaking from the Rhode Island School of Design, an MFA from Columbia University and a Post-Graduate Certificate in Japanese woodblock printmaking and papermaking from Kyoto Seika University in Kyoto, Japan. His work has been included in numerous group exhibitions nationally and internationally in China and Japan.
